Mac Troubleshooting

The latest version of this page is available online here. Check it for any problems discovered after this version of FoundationStone shipped.

If you have any problems, download exactly the same version of the Java Virtual Machine suggested on the download page. FoundationStone has been tested under Apple's MRJ 2.2.5. The download page links to the latest known good version of MRJ as Apple releases them.

In particular, MRJ versions 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 don't work with FoundationStone.

Java applications can be quite memory hungry. If you find that some windows don't draw properly, or that the main window shows but the application won't respond to mouse clicks etc, try increasing the virtual memory setting on your Mac and rebooting.

If you have a Hebrew or non English System and the FoundationStone Hebrew font will not display, you may you need to go to the "Language Switch" control panel, and set the primary script from Hebrew to Roman. You may need to restart your Mac for the changes to take effect.

For (non Hebrew) languages to display correctly in FoundationStone, the language kit you have installed must supply Unicode font coverage to MRJ - FoundationStone uses Unicode internally for everything except the Hebrew Font. If that is missing, a "?" appears in place of each character it doesn't have a glyph for.
