The full install process
Please note that FoundationStone is a Java application, not an applet. It has nothing to do with your web browser.
To use the application, you will first need to install a Java Virtual Machine. This is the software required to actually run the FoundationStone Java program (a program to run a program). Note that you may already have it, Apple's MRJ has been coming as a standard part of the MacOS for some time now. I suggest that you first try to run the application and see what happens - so skip now to "Font Bits" (below) and return here if it doesn't work.
If you have any problems after a trial run, download exactly the suggested Java Virtual Machine version suggested here. FoundationStone 2.3 has been tested to work under Apple's MRJ 2.2.5 (on PPC Macs running OS 8.1 or later). It should also work under MRJ 2.1.4 (on PPC Macs running OS 7.6.1 or later). See the download page for an up to date link.
FoundationStone 2.3 is known to work on Macs with at least an 800 x 600 monitor.
You will find two Hebrew Fonts as part of the download (in the "Fonts" folder). "FoundationHebrew", which is the default printed script, and "FoundationHebrewScript" which is a cursive script. Languages other than English require you have a language kit installed that provides Unicode fonts to MRJ to work.
Install the fonts by dragging and dropping them onto the System folder in the usual way.
If you have MacOS 8.5 (ie System 8.5) or later you can make the fonts look much better on screen. Click here for how to turn on anti-aliased fonts.
Double click the application "FoundationStone 2.3". If it does not start, you need to download Apple's MRJ (discussed in "Java Bits" above), install it and try again.
If you still have trouble, read the troublshooting section.
